Erin Charles is a Director in SC&H’s Audit Services practice. With more than 20 years of public accounting experience, Erin serves clients in the manufacturing, distribution, governmental, not-for-profit and cannabis sectors. She leads engagements under US GAAP, IFRS, Uniform Guidance, and Government Auditing Standards, and is a trusted advisor to organizations facing operational or regulatory changes.
Known for her practical approach and deep industry insight, Erin works closely with management teams to help them navigate complex accounting and reporting issues with confidence and clarity with a focus on adding value beyond compliance.
Erin also directs the firm’s attest innovation efforts, focusing on streamlining processes, leveraging technology and enhancing overall audit quality and efficiency. She serves on the firm’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, where she helps guide leadership succession, partner admissions, and firm governance practices.
In the broader community, Erin serves on the Board of Directors for The International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and The Homeless Persons Representation Project, where she contributes expertise in financial oversight, risk management, and organizational governance. She volunteers her time with various local not-for-profit organizations and serves on the firm’s employee-led Community Service Committee.
Erin earned a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was named one of the 2017 “Leading Women” and 2018 “Top 100 Women” by The Daily Record.
When she is not working, Erin enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and the outdoors.
